Are You A Multiplier?
Are you a multiplier?
When you think of the purpose for which God called you, Bible study small group, your LifeGroup, its purpose for existence as you gather, do you immediately think of multiplication?
Are you keenly aware of others in your life path or small group that are passionate, growing, able to connect and lead others?
For quite some time I have said that most Christians are educated well beyond their level of obedience.
By that I simply mean that we have created a culture in church life of absorbing – we tend to be consumed with taking in information and Bible knowledge. We sit through sermons, Bible studies, listen to teachers and pastors on the radio and podcasts and simply take in more information.
Now, don’t get me wrong – knowledge is good, but it’s not the goal. Obedience and life change is the goal.
Jesus didn’t call us to be His followers simply to gain knowledge. In Matthew chapter 4 and verse 19, we have the account of Jesus calling His first followers or Disciples.
In that account, Jesus said: “Come and follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”
I love what I heard Jim Putman say about this text. He said; “with the invitation comes a description.” Jesus invited them to go with Him, but He clearly let them know that their life was about to change and that their obedience and multiplication was going to be the indicator as to whether they were indeed, true followers.
If you are going to be a follower of Jesus, then you must in turn be a fisher of men. You must be a multiplier – not simply a gatherer of information.
I have never learned more, than I when I jumped out of my comfort zone, in faith, trusting the Lord to do through me what I felt totally incapable of doing on my own – and simply trusted Him.
Take a close look at your own life – are you a multiplier?
Do you live with the desire to reach, equip and send others?
